Default Life is Beautiful. And Horrible.

I'm profoundly horrified at the depths of depravity people can exhibit, the human and natural disasters we all have to deal with, the tragedies. I've certainly struggled with some terrible things in my life, and know there are more awaiting me. And yet . . .

as I get older, my outlook becomes more determinedly Pollyanna-ish. Yes, life is horrible sometimes, but it's also wonderful, and people are amazing and kind, and create beauty, and nature can be amazing, and there are so many good things to experience! And I really feel it's important to focus on the positive. To dwell on the light. Not only for oneself and one's mental health, but for the health and happiness of the world.

yeah, so I'm an old hippy. that is all.

I agree with you so very much. Lately I've found myself actively ignoring the negative and the horrific. I know it's there, I just have been refusing to fully engage I guess!

Rather working to focus on happiness and small things that are good and small helpings in life around me. I'm trying to be and feel more positive and to share that in life.

Maybe I'm a middle aged hippy?! I'm ok with that.

And John! The west coast rocks! Mind you, I may have a bias, but! It's so beautiful! All up and down the coast (I've been north to Bella Bella Coola) but Oregan was amazing coastal beauty! Hope you have a blast!

    Merica! Lol! Meow right back!

This is something I struggle with. Not the "big picture" so much (like what we see on the news) but the jerks that we have to interact with daily. It's just a grind, yanno? I struggle because I get caught up in the grind and it's really hard for me to stop and be like, "Oh hey... it's pretty this morning".

I really try on my days off but I feel like I don't do enough self-care and by the time I know it, it's Monday morning again.

So my plans for the weekend include:
    - Cooking my sage (it's really humid here this time of year and my sage isn't dry enough)
    - Skating every day this weekend for at least a couple hours each day
    - Replacing turn signal relay in my car

Yeah... other than normal crap (shopping, paying bills, laundry... ) that's about it.
    Don't think, just skate!

Self care is so important!! I hope you build it into your grind Sela!

Today the rain is beautiful! The sound, the grey sky, knowing that it's helping with the Forrest fires burning in the area, and the coolness of it!

    Wonderful!
